Alex is keeping the seeds to different produce we buy at the market. Right now we are sprouting the Avocado seed and Watermelon seeds.
Alex is also making cream cheese and whey out of some fresh yogurt. She is hoping to make enough to bake Eric a small cheesecake for his birthday. He turned the big 4-0 this past Sunday. But the cheesecake may be another week or two since this process takes a bit.
I think she got this idea from Nourishing Traditions.
Just before we left the USA Alex found a copy of The Maker's Diet at Goodwill. She was so happy because she has been asking me for it for 6 months or longer. She practically devoured it and it is also very useful here.
Yesterday the kids watched Solomon, one of the men who works at the guest house, clean a Red Snapper for the family upstairs. It was fascinating.
Those eyes...they stare at you. It's hard for Momma to watch because I can't separate those eyes from the food later. :) I stayed inside.
But Alex stuck around for pictures.
She even took a video. But we live in Africa and I'm pretty sure it won't upload so I'm not going to try.
There's a lot of cool things to see here!

ReplyDeleteSo whats your favorite and least favorite thing about the Liberian food? It looks very different. <- Understatement. ;)
Eagles: Rice, and rice. ^_^ *ahem*
ReplyDeleteXD Wow, Jake.
ReplyDelete*Dalek voice* Explain! Explain!
Rice is my favorite and least favorite thing about Liberian food. Does that answer your question? ;)
ReplyDeleteRice is good, but rice every day (which is what happens here), is not so good.
But since it was Christmas, we had American food, so I'm prepared to go back to rice. ^_^
